It's days like yesterday that make me miss living in the Southwest, where we had nearly 300 days of purely sunny days.
Sure, I appreciate the lack of ice and poor driving conditions (like yesterday, 6 Feb):
However, it was so overcast and gloomy, I was longing for a day like this:
While it may have been cold, snowy, and icy in some spots (thus, not exactly "safe" for driving), it was, however, incredibly sunny on the day I took this photo (mid-January).
I need my vitamin D!
(Note: Okay, I love winter, and appreciate many things about Iowa - like snowy "skiing" weather. But it seems like I really notice how many gloomy, overcast days we get in a row here in the Midwest.)

Those are really nice comparisons in pics. I have noticed that after having a gloomy day in the southwest, I am ready for that sunshine again...one day is enough!
The snow picture is definitely prettier!
I know what you mean - I too noticed many days of overcast when I lived in Arkansas. I do have an appreciation for the 300 plus days of sunshine here the Southwest. Your snow picture is pretty. =)
Neat comparison shots. What a difference a day makes.
It's been sunny but very cold here. I hear you about the vitamin D, that is why I walk during my lunch hour.
